Hey, how are you this beautiful Monday? I’m a bit frazzled getting off a long shift from work and a rather stressful weekend, but it’s good to turn my attention to one of my favorite things. The creative arts.
Art is a wonderful way to make connections and I love the theatre. Don’t get to go as much as I’d like, but here’s a play I’d love to see.
Green Thumb Theatre features a play called “The Invisible Girl”. There are video clips on the site and a study guide for kindergarten through 8th grade, but I think the springboard for discussion questions are appropriate for older students, as well.
Here’s a quote from their website:
Ali isn’t really invisible…In fact she used to be part of the most popular group in Grade 5. Then she made a BIG mistake. Now all her best friends ignore her. But Ali realizes she’s not the only one who feels this way…
The Invisible Girl is a smart and funny look at our culture’s preoccupation with fashion, beauty and popularity. It’s about being yourself and standing up for what’s right, even if sometimes it’s easier to be invisible.
Touring: On Tour BC, Canada and USA, Fall 2007, Spring 2008
Here’s another article/review, The Invisible Girl appears in London
If you have the opportunity to see it, please share what you think. I’d love to know your take on it.
