An incredible rich resource of information concerning cyber safety, NetSmartz.org. I discovered this site through MySpace, www.myspace.com/nc_cyberlaw.
I’m a bit overwhelmed right now with all the information on NetSmartz, but it’s definitely work exploring indepth. There are five sections, Parents and Guardians, Educators, Law Enforcers, Teens and Kids, which I had a blast playing in.
In the Teen Sections they offer streaming videos with a middle school version and high school version, along with other resources. The Kids Section is its own website, and is a lot of fun. They have animated videos, songs, games and good information all aimed at young people.
If you’re, at all, concerned about cyber bullying or internet safety this is a really good resource. What I like is that while it’s educational and entertaining in parts, it’s also quite serious in the information it provides and very helpful in providing specific suggestions on to how to protect your safety on-line or what to do if it’s compromised. The videos, from what I understand, provide examples of other teens’ experiences, with related links for further research and understanding.
Like I said, I just discovered this site and have only gone over it briefly, but I’m really excited about this find. Couldn’t wait to share it with you. Too important to put on my list of things to do!
