I just discovered a neat book, called “Girl Fighting: Betrayal and Rejections Among Girls” by Lyn Mikel Brown. She has a web site with two women she’s partners with in projects called Hardy Girls Healthy Women Their mission reads

Our goal is to build hardiness zones to support girl’sâ„¢ and women’s healthy development

A hardiness zone is defined as a “supportive and nurturing environment of individuals and the community”.

What I like about their focus is the emphasis on adults creating these healthy and empowering environments for girls to grow and thrive in, and for ourselves, as well, instead of judging and labeling girls as inherently mean or “just the way they are.”
