A Few Good Women…

We’ve been talking a lot about things that are wrong with relationships on this blog, but how about the many things that are RIGHT? Isn’t that why we care so much about teaching girls to connect in positive ways?

At the risk of being called sexist (again) I’ll share what I think is special about women.

Multitasking! There’s nothing more exciting than a group of like minded women gathering to work on a project.

Empathy! Sure, there are men who are kind and compassionate, but women really “get” how you feel about children, careers, aging, bodies, marriage, and a host of other complex topics.

Connectedness! Picture this: you and your husband meet a new couple. Later that evening, you comment on how stylish her clothes were, the striking blue of his eyes, how unusual her wedding ring was, and how they both laughed in the same way….only to discover your spouse didn’t notice any of these things. From the instant we meet, women seem to start negotiating and relating to each other.

Men have their own strengths, of course, or the world wouldn’t be a very interesting place. But along the way, as we comment on relational aggression and all the associated negative outcomes, let’s celebrate relational affection, and the many blessings it brings to our lives!

    “Relational Affection”

I love this! Thanks, Cheryl. Although, I suspect when you take a good look at it, we’ll find more than just a “few”.
